I have begun developing character ideas and sketching them out using different media. I don’t really like this sketch, its very rough and doesn’t really portray my character the way I want to, she’s too cold and edgy, I would like her to have more of an ethereal and delicate look, with warm colours, however it was just a quick sketch and the character still requires a lot of development.
In a weekly briefing we had a guest artist called Jo Blaker come in a talk to us about her ideas of the liminal. She showed us some images and work which for her represented the unknown and transition. There was one piece which caught my eye, which was a painting of a forest, and just through the thick tree trunks you could make out the metal and glass side of a building peeking through. This idea was useful when looking at the Asylum and creating a scene for the story,from this I created a pop-up forest for the book which hides the main character of the story.The asylum.
