I began the project by mind mapping all things relating to the three topics in the brief, What I discovered the most interesting resided in the area of fashion and style. To begin Research into this area I took out fashion books from the library and looked through the university’s extensive supply of vogues. I came across a book which supplied cover photos from vogues ranging from the 1920s- 2010. I explored the differences between the fashion, style and class in the images, realising the key differences resided in the female figure and how it is resembled. I noticed that images from the 20s were extremely conservative and yet glamorous, lots of diamonds and fur and no skin on show. When compared to today’s covers they seem very uptight and formal, from the 90s onwards there was far more skin on show and more celebration of the female figure.
