Futurist propaganda

I created an image based upon the futurist movement. A lot of the work of the futurists acted as political propaganda, so I chose to create an image which was almost like a poster. I took quotes and symbolism from the manifesto itself. The rose represents peace and history, and the guns as a sign of aggression. The fist in the centre acts as futurism and its violent resentment against the abolition of war. They believed that only through violence could creativity blossom. They would’ve had war purify society and bring new glory to Italy. They wanted to burn libraries and museums, and loathed anything that was representative of the past. Their eyes were set to the future and technology, and man’s triumph over nature.
